Yellow Gloves are My Friends

The cleaning continues over at the other place. I’m so glad Heather gave us a key prior to our actual lease starting so we could go in and clean.

We’ve cleaned many a house over the years prior to moving in and this is not the worst we’ve seen.

The worst, I think, was the house on McFarland in Lake City, Florida. We had to paint the living room as it was a dark red. Not a bad color for the appropriate house, but this house was like coffin. Dark. Full of bugs. Mutant bugs. They call them Palmetto bugs. I say they’re mutant roaches. We then moved onto the hallway where we’d found there was wallpaper that they’d painted over.

We won’t even go into the yard. The jungle. Buried car parts.

None of that this week.

The kitchen is cleaning up nicely. The cupboards are not as bad as I thought they’d be. It’s just taking me awhile to get it done. I used to knock that stuff out in a few hours. Not any more.

Bill worked on the floors. He scrubbed the kitchen floor the other day and it looks great! Yesterday he did the bathroom floors and the entry way.

Mary’s room got painted. Pink. Pepto-Bismol pink. She loves it. I don’t have to go in there. Much.

We’re going to give the livingroom and family room walls a scrub before we decide if we need to paint. I think they’ll be okay, though.

Meanwhile, the packing continues here at the townhome. It’s coming along. Oreo is having a grand time playing in the boxes scattered around. Boris is sending evil looks our way. He knows what’s going on. He’s had almost as many moves as we have, considering he was born at the Yuma St. house in California.

Mary is ready to be over there. She’s been having fun riding her bike and running around with Breanna. We’re over there in the evenings just long enough for her to be upset about having to leave. I tried to console her with the fact that we’ll be completely moved over in time for her Spring break and she’ll have the whole week to run amuk.

I’m off to tape up more boxes….
